hey man in response to the watermarks ruining the images, there is away to do it so that you can overlay the image on the top ,and a watermarked on the bottom and when people try to steal it the watermark shows up.far simpler than my explanation

There is no "right" camera setting there is a technically correct exposure, however if you choose to shoot at that setting is a personal decision as to if the technically correct exposure is going to give you the picture you want. . . . . . . once you understand the basics you then have the choice as to if you want to use them or if you want to something that doesn't confide to the basic rules. Rules are meant to be broken.

I'm still struggling with learning the 'right' camera settings for the perfect shot myself so I'm nowhere near your league but I generally admire your work Dom. Some of these are great and the sort of shots I would like to be able to produce in time; others I just can't see what you were trying to do. The spectator shots are what I normally end up with!

Capturing the ferocity of a top fuel launch or a pro stock/pro mod burnout just captures drag racing for me; the use of filters and exposure just makes it stand out even more. Pic 1,2 & 11 really float my boat.

Do you do motorsport photography courses ;-)

Love the non-standard parachute shots. The head on ones look lifeless to me, using wide angle and side view captures a lot more of the action.

Like the shot through the smoke of the Habermann car too (can't remember which Habermann drives which car).

Excellent work, Dominic - on both your photos and the blog post! I'm a newbie motorsports photographer and photoshelter user as well from across the pond in Canada.

Did you happen to see the excellent write-up on motorsports photography by John Thawley on Photoshelter? I think it's the absolute best article I've ever read on the topic:

Cheers!
